What a Professional Spray Foam Rig Includes
A professional spray foam rig is more than a machine in a trailer. Every system on the rig affects production performance, safety, or reliability. Here is what a complete professional spray foam rig includes and why each component matters.
Proportioner: The core spray system. Must be matched in heater wattage to the generator and in output to the hose length and production volume requirements.
Generator: Powers the machine heater package and all electrical systems. Must be sized above the machine's maximum electrical demand to maintain consistent heater performance under sustained load. Diesel generators provide more consistent power delivery than gas for sustained production.
Heated hose system: Maintains chemical temperature from the machine to the gun. Length must be matched to the heater's ability to maintain temperature across the full run. Transfer pumps keep material moving through the hose during recirculation.
Compressed air system: Compressor and refrigerated dryer supply clean, dry air to the proportioner, transfer pumps, and gun. Moisture-free air is critical — moisture contamination in the air system causes proportioner problems and foam quality issues.
Chemical handling: Drum racks, dolly, and desiccant drum dryers manage chemical storage and conditioning. Properly conditioned chemicals at the correct temperature and moisture content are essential for consistent foam.
Workstation: Countertop, cabinet storage, bench vise, flush pot, and tool organization. Production efficiency on each job depends partly on workspace layout and tool accessibility.
Safety systems: Two-worker supplied air system, PPE station, eyewash, fire extinguisher, first aid, and SDS station. These are not optional. Interior spray foam applications require supplied breathing air.
Training: Hands-on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, safety protocols, foam chemistry, and yield estimation. The best equipment does not protect a contractor who has not been trained to use it.
