Why Custom Rigs Require Consultation

Standard spray foam rig platforms cover the majority of residential and commercial insulation contractor needs. However, some contractors require configurations that cannot be addressed by an off-the-shelf build.

Custom rigs involve engineering decisions across trailer size, machine type, generator capacity, compressor systems, hose length, application type, and interior workflow layout. These variables interact — changes in one area affect the requirements in others.

A larger machine requires a larger generator. A longer hose requires a higher heater wattage. A higher heater wattage requires a larger generator. A polyurea coating application requires different transfer equipment and gun setups than spray foam. These decisions must be made together, not independently.

Custom vs Standard Platform
SprayWorks standard platforms — gas, solid-state diesel, and digitally monitored — are engineered for the most common contractor production requirements. If your production volume, machine selection, hose length, coating applications, or operational environment falls outside standard platform parameters, a custom rig consultation is the appropriate starting point.
Engineering, Not Assembly
A custom spray foam rig is not a standard rig with different parts swapped in. It is an engineered system designed from the ground up around your production requirements. The generator, machine, heater package, hose system, compressor, and trailer must all be matched and integrated before the rig can be built.

Trailer Size & Layout
Trailer length affects drum capacity, workspace layout, and equipment positioning. Larger trailer platforms allow more chemical drums, extended hose storage, and additional workspace.
Machine Type & Output Class
Machine selection drives heater wattage requirements, hose capability, and generator sizing. Higher output machines support larger production volumes but require matching power systems.
Generator Capacity
Generator must be sized to support full heater wattage under sustained production conditions. Mismatched generator capacity is one of the most common rig engineering failures.
Compressor Systems
Standard piston compressors vs. rotary screw systems. Screw compressor/generator combos integrate electrical generation and compressed air into a single platform.
Hose Length Configuration
Extended hose systems require higher heater wattage to maintain material temperature across longer distances. Hose, heater, and generator must all be matched.
Insulation vs. Coating Applications
Rigs configured for polyurea coatings, slab lifting, or specialty applications require different machine configurations, gun setups, and material handling equipment.
