Digital Proportioner Control Systems
Digital proportioner control systems manage the machine's operating parameters and display real-time performance data. Understanding what these systems do and what they can detect helps contractors get maximum value from monitored platforms.
- The Graco Reactor 3 platform uses an integrated touchscreen display to show:
- A-side and B-side pressures (real-time)
- Heater block temperatures (by zone)
- Heated hose temperatures (by zone)
- Material flow rates (Pro and Elite models)
- Machine diagnostic codes
- Operating history logs
- The PMC Premiere and Mach-2 platforms include digital monitoring of:
- Operating pressures
- Heater temperatures
- Material flow
- Machine diagnostic data
What digital control systems detect:
Pressure imbalance: If A-side and B-side pressures diverge, the digital display makes this immediately apparent. Pressure imbalance can indicate material feed problems, pump wear, or restriction in one side of the system.
Temperature loss: If heater block or hose zone temperatures drop below setpoint, the display alerts the operator. Temperature drop may indicate a heater element issue, generator power problem, or excessive heat loss in the hose system.
Flow irregularities: On machines with flow monitoring, unexpected changes in flow rate can indicate transfer pump problems, drum depletion, or restrictions in the chemical supply lines.
Diagnostic codes: Machine fault conditions generate diagnostic codes that help technicians identify specific problems quickly.
